Volunteer at Etobicoke Humane Society

The Etobicoke Humane Society is run entirely by dedicated volunteers. Volunteer roles include animal care, adoption coordinators, foster care coordinators, office administration, fundraising, communications/marketing and more.

Volunteer requirements:

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age to work with dogs. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age to work with cats.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age for all other positions
We ask for a minimum six-month commitment for all volunteers
For in-person shelter positions proof of a current tetanus shot is required
We require proof of current vaccinations for personal pets
Must be available for an interview

Current Volunteering Opportunities with EHS

Cat Volunteers

The Cat Team is currently accepting applications for in-person cat shelter volunteers. These volunteers care for the cats in our shelter and perform tasks such as feeding, scooping litter, laundry, cleaning, and socializing cats. We are looking for people who:

Are 16 years of age or older
Can commit to a weekly shift (8:30-11:30am, 1-4pm, or 6:30-9pm) for a minimum of 6 months
Are able to work independently, perform physical tasks including bending and lifting, and enter kennels without assistance

Dog Volunteers

The EHS Dog team is looking for dedicated volunteers. Please read the details and follow the steps to apply for your application to be considered.

In-Shelter Dog Care Volunteer Shifts

Dog handling experience is an advantage, but not a hard requirement. We are looking to fill for the below shifts.

Mornings: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, from 08:00-11:00.
Afternoon: Monday, from 1:30-3:30pm
Evenings: Monday, Tuesday 6:00-9:00pm
