Foster a Dog

Thank you for your interest in being a foster parent with EHS. Currently, we are only in need of foster families that meet the following criteria:

• We are seeking fosters who live in a house with a fenced yard
• Who have experience handling dogs. We will do our best to match our foster dogs with foster family’s preference of energy level
• Live within 75 km of our shelter at 67 Six Point Road in Etobicoke
• If you live further than 60 km from the shelter, you will need to have access to a car to drive the dog to veterinary appointments (we have a limited number of volunteer drivers).
• Who will be away from home for no longer than 4 hours in a row, per day.
• If your application notes that a dog would be left alone for 5 or more hours each day, we can only consider you for our weekend respite foster program (we have many applications for this program so you may be put on a waitlist)
• No children under 12 years of age
• Who have no cats or other small animals in the home. Homes with dog-friendly dogs are welcome to apply

Although EHS will attempt to give an honest evaluation of the temperament of any dog you are interested in fostering, you understand that the history of a rescued dog may not be known and you may encounter some behavioural problems.
