Limited visitation for cats. See Details HERE
Our Hope for the Holidays campaign is aiming to raise funds to help care for our shelter pets. This is our largest fundraiser of the year and helps to fund a significant portion of our annual budget.
As a small, independent shelter, we rely entirely on fundraising and donations to care for our cats and dogs while they wait to find their new forever families.
This includes animals such as Hades.
Hades came to us from a Quebec shelter, where he was at risk of being euthanized because he was having seizures.
It was determined that Hades had epilepsy and was started on medication, which seemed to stop his seizures.
After 10 months with us, Hades still hadn’t found a home and his seizures started again. He was sent for many tests, including an MRI. This found Hades had suffered an injury to his brain when he was first born (or even before birth), which was the cause of his seizures.
Despite his medication, Hades continued to have frequent seizures, but he caught the eye of a family who had been following his journey. They weren’t deterred by Hades’ epilepsy, and after a slow transition to introduce him to their other dogs, he is now officially a part of the family.
We continue to support Hades in his new home as his seizures are still not under control.
His medical care cost approximately $9,200, but it was worth it so he could find his forever family.
Help support our animals by making a donation to our campaign, taking part in our Cutest Pet Photo Contest or send an EHS eCard to someone special on your list.
