Could this kitty “Jimmy” his way into your heart?
Jimmy arrived from an overcrowded municipal shelter where he was undersocialized and scared of people. Since arriving at EHS, he has shown us that he is a very brave boy who is great at overcoming challenges and letting his guard down.
About Jimmy
- At shelter
- Upon his arrival to the shelter, Jimmy demonstrated volunteers his impressive growl from his life on the streets. Now that he’s settled in and been shown care from our wonderful EHS volunteers, his growling has subsided and, instead, he shows off his adorable raspy meow! He sounds like a dinosaur!
- With his white face and gorgeous patterned body, Jimmy is a certified cutie!
- At first, Jimmy wasn’t interested in playing, but he has since shown that it’s one of his favorite pastimes! If a volunteer is walking by his kennel to go play with another cat, he makes sure to catch their attention!
- Jimmy was enrolled in EHS’s socialization program and has graduated with flying colours!
- Jimmy is easily approachable now, as long as the approach is slow. Fast movements still make him nervous, which may result in a hiss and him running to the back of his kennel.
- Jimmy is very food motivated and eats his meals quickly. At the shelter, he is provided with a puzzle feeder that his kibble is placed in, which he really enjoys! He can even figure out the more complicated ones, showing off his smart skills.
- Speaking of how much Jimmy loves food, it’s a great way to build a bond with him! Feeding him treats (or even his kibble) during interactions is a sure way to get him to trust you.
- During mealtimes, you can find Jimmy at the front of his kennel, meowing at volunteers for faster service.
- Since finding his confidence, Jimmy has gotten much more comfortable with pets by hand. He especially likes pets around his face, chin, cheeks, on the top of his head, and nose massages.
- Jimmy is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on core vaccinations.
Jimmy's Ideal Home
- We are unsure how Jimmy would do with other cats or pets.
- Preferring a calm and quiet environment, Jimmy would not do well in a home with young children.
- Jimmy is a great cat for first-time adopters, as long as they are willing to be patient and work with him through his initial transition to a new home.
Jimmy is looking for a forever home where he can enjoy some good snacks and great company! Come meet him at the shelter today; he is sure to steal your heart!
