Showcasing Hibiscus, the spectacular quacking cat!
Hibiscus came to EHS from an overcrowded municipal shelter, whenre she was pregnant. She gave birth to her wonderfully chaotic kitten (Ginger), who was then adopted. Hibiscus thought she’d also found her forever home when she was first adopted, but it wasn’t the right fit for this sweet girl. Hibiscus is now back at EHS, and is looking for her second chance at happily ever after.
About Hibiscus
- At shelter
- Hibiscus was in foster when she gave birth, and was adopted after her kitten (Ginger). She was unfortunately returned, and is looking for her forever home, once again.
- During her time in foster, Hibiscus became comfortable and showed off her quacking sounds while she played with wand toys. Her fosters nicknamed her “Ducky.”
- Lately, at the shelter, she has really turned a corner and has been showing off her impressive quacking sounds! Is she a cat, or a duck in disguise…who knows?
- Hibiscus’s love language is quality time! Approach her slowly, sit with her and talk to her about life; she’s a great listener!
- Hibiscus is a skittish cat who has had minimal experience with humans.
- Hibiscus is currently enrolled in EHS’s socialization program, where dedicated volunteers are working to help her become more comfortable around people.
- Some skittish cats may remain reserved, while others may express their trust and affection in a variety of ways.
- Hibiscus likes being brushed around her face, but is still warming up to feeling the brush on other areas of her luscious fur.
- Hibiscus loves to play! Wand toys, string toys, laser points, anything she can chase and show off her hunting skills. She especially likes small toys (like mice) that she can carry in her mouth to showcase her “kill”!
- Hibiscus is a toothless girl, which made her realize the joys of Churu tubes and wet food. Though, don’t be fooled, she loves her dry food! It just may be the key to winning her over…
- During mealtimes, you can find Hibiscus at the front of her kennel, quacking at volunteers to hurry up! She would like you to know that the service is too slow for her liking.
- Hibiscus has made immense progress during her time at the shelter! She can be pet by hand, as long as you give her time to relax and feel comfortable with your presence.
- Hibiscus is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on core vaccinations.
Hibiscus's Ideal Home
- Hibiscus would prefer to go to a home with another feline-friendly, well-mannered cat.
- A skittish cat will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children.
- Hibiscus is looking for patient adopters who will help her come out of her shell slowly and at a pace she is comfortable with.
- Hibiscus would benefit from having a safe space, such as a small room or bathroom, where she can stay when first brought home to help with the transition to her new home.
- Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Hibiscus settle into her new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Hibiscus with a successful transition to her forever home.
