Argenta: the Greyscale Gang’s most fashionable member!

This black-and-white beauty is easy to pick out of the group with her white socks and (oh-so-cute) half moustache! Quite the statement! Some of her group have already gone to their fur-ever homes, and Argenta is part of a gang of felines with distinct shades of grey (Haze, Grayce, Misty, and Cloud) who came to EHS from a multi-cat environment. These gentle greys all get along with and support each other, but understandably, they have needed some time to adjust to their new environment.  Fortunately, all of them, including Argenta, have been making steady progress!

About Argenta

  • At shelter
  • Argenta is a skittish cat who has had minimal experience with humans.
  • This pretty girl may be shy if you are someone unfamiliar, or if you get too close for her comfort, but Argenta is gradually gaining confidence—and has quickly learned that people are fun to play with!
  • She LOVES to play with a wand toy, and she is one of the most playful in the group! You may tire out before Argenta does! She also likes catnip toys and chasing a laser light.
  • If Argenta will sit still long enough, she does seem to like it when you talk quietly to her. She is very attentive and will watch and listen to you. She may also respond to you with slow blinks (an indication that she feels comfortable with you)!
  • Although Argenta will cuddle with all the cats in her room at the shelter when it is time to relax, she is most often found snuggled up together with Grayce in one of their favourite spots, on the highest level of the cat tree or in a sunny spot in front of the window.
  • When Argenta is in the mood for talking, Misty is her go-to companion. These two girls are quite affectionate while exchanging trills and “meow-chirp” sounds.
  • Argenta also likes to chirp and chatter at the seagulls that she can see flying outside her window.
  • Argenta has been described as “shy, but super curious.” At first, it is best to let Argenta approach you until she feels more relaxed.
  • She will sometimes accept some scratches from a back-scratcher, or pets by hand from some of the shelter volunteers that she knows best, although she is still wary of being touched.
  • Argenta enjoys her food when she likes what is on the menu and isn’t shy about helping herself to her roomie’s food dishes if they aren’t quick enough!
  • This sweet girl also enjoys sharing a tube treat with the other girls in her room.
  • Argenta is currently enrolled in EHS’s socialization program, where dedicated volunteers are working to help her become more comfortable around people.
  • Argenta has been spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on core vaccinations.

Argenta’s Ideal Home

  • Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Argenta settle into her new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Argenta with a successful transition to her forever home.
  • Argenta can be a bit of a scaredy-cat! Loud noises and sudden movements can send her scurrying for cover, so it would be ideal for her to have access to quiet places to retreat and feel safe in her new home (blankets, covered bed, cat tree, etc.).
  • She has always shared her space with other cats, so Argenta would do well in a home with another compatible feline—perhaps one of her Greyscale companions. She can also be the only cat in a household.
  • A skittish cat will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children or dogs.
