Abernathy, a gentle soul ready for a loving home!

By day, Abernathy is a quiet observer who enjoys curling up in cozy spots and keeping a watchful eye on her world. When the lights go down, her curious side comes alive—exploring, playing, and claiming her favourite napping spot. Food is the way to her heart! When she's feeling brave, she'll lean out for treats or enjoy some Churu. Abernathy mostly keeps to herself when it comes to other cats and can still find people puzzling, but she's ready to share her gentle spirit with a forever family.

About Abernathy

  • At shelter
  • Abernathy has a hidden sweet side behind her quiet exterior.
  • Abernathy is a skittish cat who has had minimal experience with humans, but she has come a long way with the support of EHS volunteers and her foster family.
  • She's a slow eater, which makes her a prime target for feline food snatchers, and this polite girl is too nice to guard her bowl.
  • She doesn't generally seek out other cats' attention, though she occasionally rubbed up against other house cats looking for friends when she was with a foster family.
  • Abernathy is a quiet, independent girl, and she seems to prefer it that way, but is open to change.
  • While still skittish at times with people, she leans into cheek and chin pets with the back-scratcher, and occasionally by hand when she's comfortable.
  • She now allows some people to pet her when given time to warm up, and she reserves full-body pets only for those she knows very well and trusts.
  • When food is calling, Abernathy will come out for dinner and accept treats after being coaxed, and when relaxed, she will chase treats.
  • She often sits in her cat tree, where she feels safe watching the world.
  • Abernathy is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and has received core vaccinations.

Abernathy’s Ideal Home

  • A skittish cat will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children or dogs.
  • Abernathy currently shares her space with other cats, but she would be equally happy in a home as a quiet, independent companion.
  • Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Abernathy settle into her new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Abernathy with a successful transition to her forever home.

Abernathy's the kind of roommate who'll steal your heart (but never your food). With her playful spirit and love for treats—especially Churu used as a bonding tool—she's ready to bring her quirks and cuddles to a forever home!
