Meet Thomas (white with black), 7 years old and Hershey (black), 6 years old

Thomas and Hershey are a bonded pair who came to us separately and have grown very fond of each other’s company.

Thomas came to us from a farm where we suspect he had little human interaction. He was pretty hesitant about people at first, but he’s been making terrific progress. He’s been getting much more comfortable with humans and loves having his chubby cheeks scratched. He may even roll over on his back while he purrs like a motor. He’s becoming a real affectionate guy and just needs a little love to get him comfortable.

Hershey is our resident mystery man with a heart of gold. He was rescued as a stray from the streets of Hamilton and has shown our volunteers nothing but calm and tranquillity. He was initially a little timid, but now enjoys cuddling his fellow felines while he observes his surroundings from his cat tree. Like Thomas, he prefers a slow approach, but once he’s greeted you he loves a gentle back scratcher or feather wand. He’s even become accustomed to Thomas’ favourite cheek scratches.

Both Thomas and Hershey have FIV, which is a virus that weakens the immune system of a cat. It is not transmissible to humans or other species. Cats who have FIV can live just as long as other cats if they are properly cared for with a good diet, indoor home, loving family, and vet checkups twice a year. They don’t require medication, but would  enjoy having their friendly FIV+ buddy to snuggle with in their new home!

Meet Tilly, 9 years old

Tilly is a senior Shepherd Mix from Nunavut. She is a sweet and affectionate girl who was surrendered to us when her owner left the country. She loves to be around people and is anxiously waiting for the ones that will take her home. Tilly is a total cuddle bug and has been described as “a calm and friendly presence.” She would love a family willing to take her on walks (preferably by the beach) and let her rest to watch her surroundings. She is recommended for a home without other pets where the owner is home more often than not. Not unusual for a dog her age, she does suffer from some osteoarthritis and is on daily medication requiring her weight to be managed.
