Keeping Our Cats Safe and Cool

Honouring a Donor’s Lasting Impact

This summer was a hot one, so it was not a good time to have an air conditioning unit start to fail.

That’s exactly what we were facing when we realized our A/C in the cat area was past its prime. With several heat waves, we were worried we wouldn’t be able to keep the cats safe and cool. And with a replacement cost of about $5,000, we were facing a significant expense.

But thanks to the support of a very special donor, Robin A. Sawyer, we were able to go ahead and install a brand new heat pump, which will provide cooling in the summer and also act as a heat source during our cold winters, ensuring our cats — and volunteers — will be kept comfortable throughout the year.

Robin was a long-time donor to EHS, and when she recently passed, she left instructions that EHS continue to receive funds from her estate, and this was a perfect opportunity to use her donation for something that would benefit our cats for years to come. We are extremely appreciative of her generosity and thoughtfulness.

Robin’s gift is a beautiful reminder of how one person’s legacy can have a lasting and loving impact. Her kindness will now live on in every purr, every nap in a sunbeam, and every life made just a little bit better.
