BIO:

  • Shepherd/Husky Mix, 6 years old, Male (neutered)
  • Medium/Large (60 lb) medium-high energy
  • Buddy came to EHS from Northern Ontario where he was found as an unclaimed stray
  • Buddy is house-trained, microchipped and has his core vaccinations

ABOUT BUDDY:

  • Buddy is an affectionate, people-loving dog - he's more than happy to climb into a lap for cuddles
  • He is incredibly smart, learns quickly, already has a great sit, and is working on his "wait" cue at mealtimes
  • On a leash Buddy enjoys taking in the world around him. He would benefit from continued leash manners training. He does not seem bothered by traffic and is not reactive to other dogs, although he may show interest or give an occasional bark. He has some prey drive to small critters he sees on a walk
  • Buddy loves toys is highly engaging with you
  • He is very food motivated, and never says no to a tasty liver treat. Like many clever dogs, he'll happily help himself to unattended snacks if given the chance!
  • Buddy is good in a car, he’ll jump right in and settle in for the ride - hoping all the while the ride ends at a park where he can show off  his fancy prancing trot
  • Buddy experiences separation anxiety and is happiest when he's close to his people. His foster family is helping him build confidence when left alone, and he'll need an adopter who is patient and committed to continuing that progress.

BUDDY’S IDEAL HOME:

  • Buddy would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard where he can enjoy his zoomies and plenty of playtime
  • He would love an active family who enjoys outdoor adventures—especially swimming—and someone who is home more often than not
  • Buddy would do best in a home without shared walls as he can be vocal at times
  • He could live with a well-matched canine companion. If his potential adopter has a dog, we will arrange for a meet and greet. We are not recommending him for a home with a cat.
  • He would do best with someone experienced with energetic dogs and committed to ongoing training
  • Due to his size, enthusiastic love of people, he is still learning not to ‘hug’ (a.k.a. jump up) in excitement when greeting you so he would do better with older children

If you're looking for a loyal companion who will stick by your side through every adventure, Buddy is ready to become your best friend.
