March 2 was International Rescue Cat Day, which was a time for us to recognize all the cats in our care, as well as the ones who have found their special homes over the years.
Right now, we have more than 100 cats at EHS, with some at the shelter and others spending time in amazing foster homes.
If you’ve been thinking about adding a feline friend to your family, here’s why you should choose a rescue cat:
Every time someone adopts from a shelter like EHS, they aren't just helping one cat—they’re helping two. By moving a cat into a "forever home," you create an open spot in the shelter for another animal in desperate need of safety and care.
Our volunteers and fosters get to know our cats very well and can help match you with the perfect personality, whether you’re looking for a "velcro cat" who wants to snuggle or an independent spirit who enjoys their space. And unlike kittens, whose personalities are still developing, adult rescue cats have established temperaments.
All of our cats come fully vaccinated, are spayed or neutered, and have been health checked by a vet.
Many of our cats have lived in homes before, meaning they’re usually already litterbox trained. This can help make the transition into the house easier.
On top of all of these reasons, our rescue cats are also adorable.
We’ve got fluffy cats, short-haired cats, kittens, senior cats, and more.
