Limited visitation for cats. See Details HERE
Meet Max! Max was found stray by city staff and transferred to us to find him a forever home.
He’s a big Puppy with plenty of energy. He pulls on the leash on walks and can play rough when excited. As he settled into his foster home he started to misbehave and challenged his foster family. He loves people but when he gets excited he can be quite mouthy and when he doesn’t get his way can be pushy. These are typical puppy behaviours but unfortunately he didn’t get the necessary training and guideance as he grew older and larger.
He needs consistent reinforcement of training techniques and an environment that is calm in order to lower his excitement and energy level so he doesn’t get carried away.
He is now offsite in a structured training program and showing progress. He has started to calm down and has already learned some basic commands.
He is house trained and knows sit, and is working on other commands. He needs positive reinforcement on his leash manners and to learn to socialize calmly with other dogs.
He is microchipped, neutered and up to date on his core vaccinations.
We are looking for an active but calm family that will be dedicated to helping him control his energy and excitement while continuing his training. He takes on the energy of those around him so would do best in a quiet and calm home. His new family should be prepared to spend time outdoors and going for walks to help manage his energy levels. There should be no children in the home or visiting regularly. He should also be the only pet in the home at least initially. He can sometime be frightened of loud noises so a quiet neighbourhood or country setting would be preferred. And a home with a fully fenced yard so he can get plenty of exercise in addition to his regular walks.
We believe that Max’s behaviour will continue to improve matched with a forever family that is willing to continue working on his obedience training. He is currently living in a training facility in the Peterborough area. Potential adopters for Max should expect to visit him a few times at this facility and conducting knowledge transfer with his current trainer before taking him home.
