We have two very special pets looking for special families! Wylie the dog and Golden the cat have both previously been adopted through EHS, but due to no fault of their own, have made their way back to us and are looking for a fresh start.
We’re always there to support our animals — even after they’ve been adopted — and if for any reason they can’t stay in their home, we welcome them back into our care.
For Wylie and Golden, they both have some health needs, which are managed easily. Wylie requires medication, and Golden has a special diet. This can make it more challenging to find adopters, as many people aren’t willing to take on a pet who needs a little extra help to keep them healthy.
In the case of Wylie and Golden, we believe it’s worth the effort, as both are amazing pets who just want to find their people and settle into a home for good.
Wylie is a playful, easy going Labrador mix searching for his next loving home!
This sweet boy was adopted in November 2022 and settled in well with his new family, which included a cat and a child. However, his owners’ situation changed and they decided it was best to return him to the shelter this past May. We understand that changes happen in life, and that’s why we’re always there to support our animals, even after their initial adoption, and now we’re helping Wylie find his next family!
Currently, Wylie is thriving in foster care. He happily joins his foster family for car rides and leisurely walks on trails and to the beach. He is friendly and affectionate, and behaves very well with people, children, and other dogs.
Wylie has a medical condition called diabetes insipidus which causes excessive thirst and urination. Wylie receives daily medication through eye drops and must have water readily available to prevent dehydration. While Wylie is an excellent companion and is responding well to his medication, he has had trouble finding an adopter willing to take on his medical care.
Wylie would be a great family pet as he is a real people-pup; he absolutely loves being by his human’s side. He’d thrive in a home with a yard or green space nearby and appreciates daily walks.

Golden is a gorgeous orange tabby who’s looking for another chance at finding a family.
Golden was previously adopted, but due to allergies with his adoptive family, he’s been returned to our care so we can find him a new home.
Golden is in a foster home, and is thriving with people around. He loves being near his favourite people and supervising what they’re doing. He’s not a lap cat, but likes following people around, and curling up on the couch beside his humans.
He also loves meeting new visitors and socializing, as well as watching the world go by from a perch at the window.
Golden is a great communicator and knows how to use his voice to let you know when it’s time to eat, when he wants attention, or when he’s feeling anxious.
He has a condition called stress cystitis, a urinary condition caused by stress and anxiety, and to help manage this, he’s on a long-term special diet and needs to be in a low-stress, quiet home. His ideal family has a home without other pets or young children.
But don’t let his condition fool you; Golden loves to show off his playful side, and loves wand toys, catnip, laser pointers and other small toys. He also gets the “zoomies” in the evening, and loves to explore, often jumping up on high surfaces to see the world above.
Golden would make a great addition for someone with a quiet lifestyle who’s looking for entertainment and companionship.
