Feral cat overpopulation is a serious issue in many cities, and Toronto is no exception. Female cats can have litters of kittens two to three times a year, and a single breeding pair can lead to the production of 420,000 offspring over a seven-year period. The vast majority of these kittens will perish, and those that survive into adulthood will face significant struggles and hardships, and without a committed caregiver, will typically live only a few years on the streets.
Trap-Neuter-Return-Manage (TNRM) is the only effective and humane way to help alleviate the overpopulation issue, and reduce the suffering of community cats.
We are fortunate that we have a robust TNRM program in this city, but there is a shortage of colony caregivers who can assist with trapping and getting feral cats fixed, and feeding feral cat colonies.
Community Cats Toronto is hosting a Trap-Neuter-Return-Manage workshop.
When: Saturday, November 17 from 10:30am -2 pm.
Where: Long Branch Library

Many Etobicoke Humane Society volunteers will be in attendance. They will learn about trapping, feeding, and sheltering feral cats, and receive a certificate that will enable them to access free spay/neuter clinics in Toronto (these are for feral cats only). Traps can be loaned.
Cost: $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
