Let’s go steady for Valentine’s Day

Become a monthly EHS donor

We want to go steady with you!

As an organization that relies entirely on fundraising and donations, we’re looking for supporters who are ready to commit to a relationship – by becoming a monthly donor.

Monthly donations are an important source of funding for EHS, as it’s predictable and allows us to plan for our expenses.

Our largest cost each month is vet bills as we ensure our animals receive high-quality care so they can be ready to find their forever families.

This includes Oliver, a young friendly cat discovered trapped in an apartment closet after being left behind by his owners. He was dehydrated and malnourished when he was found, and when he made his way into our care in September, we immediately knew something was very wrong.

It was discovered that Oliver had a fractured tail from a traumatic injury and an enlarged bladder from a urinary blockage which required immediate intervention. He spent several days at a vet clinic on IV fluids and was given a catheter. During his time at the vet, they made multiple attempts at removing his catheter and monitoring to see if he could urinate on his own. Unfortunately, his health took a turn for the worse and Oliver had to be transferred to a 24-hour emergency clinic where he underwent life-saving perineal urethrostomy surgery, costing over $6,000.

His surgery was followed by a long recovery and he suffered from recurring urinary tract infections and leakages, despite treatment. Oliver then underwent another surgery in January to remove his tail on the recommendation of a neurology specialist, to avoid risking further nerve damage and permanent incontinence. This time his vet bill was $1,500, meaning his expenses have been significant for us.

Despite all that he has been through, this sweet boy remains affectionate and trusting in humans, and shows his appreciation every day to his foster parents. It's been a long road for Oliver, but he is now well on his way to a full recovery!

This is all thanks to our supporters, as through donations, we were able to get Oliver the care he needed.

Become a monthly donor by filling out the form below, and you can contribute towards life-changing care for animals like Oliver.

EHS has visiting hours, only for cats who are at our shelter. Visiting hours are 2-6pm on Saturday & Sunday. If you'd like to adopt a cat or dog (including one of our special dogs), please apply online and one of our volunteers will contact you.
