It’s kitten season, and babies are expensive

Posted 29/04/2023 | | , , ,

Shower our kittens with love!

Thank you to everyone that donated to our Kitten Shower! We raised more than $20,000 in donations, which is absolutely amazing.

We want to say special thanks to two donors that came forward to cover the costs for two entire litters. This was completely unexpected and very generous. We also want to thank everyone that purchased items from our wishlists. We received 114 items, including kitten milk replacer, litter, toys, mother and baby food and much more.

We’ve had 17 kittens born to four mama cats so far this season. Left over funds from the Kitten Shower will be earmarked for any more kittens that may end up in our care, as kitten season isn’t over.

We now have some kittens ready for adoption; if you’d like to bring home one (or two) of our babies, fill out an adoption form.

And keep watching our social media channels for updates and adorable photos of all of our tiny felines.

 ************

We’re raising money to help care for multiple litters of kittens in our care, and the ones still on the way.

Kitten season is underway and while the little furballs are adorable, they’re very expensive. Each of our kittens and their moms require special care, including food and vaccinations and will be spayed or neutered before they can be adopted. The average cost for a kitten is $750.

Just like with a baby shower, we’re also looking for kitten items, such as mother and baby cat food, heating pads or discs, baby wipes, kitten milk replacer and more. We’ve even set up a registry of sorts through wish lists from both Amazon and Ren’s Pets

To make things fun, we’re inviting supporters to get involved through our social media channels as we play kitten trivia, vote for theme names and hold gender reveals.

Make a difference in the lives of these kittens by making a donation by May 19, 2023!

Looking to adopt one of our kittens? Kittens will be available for adoption when they’re between eight to 12 weeks of age and have had their initial kitten series vaccinations. Kittens less than six months old should be adopted in pairs or to a home with a feline-friendly companion pet.

Adoption fee for one kitten is $200 and for two $350.

EHS has visiting hours, only for cats who are at our shelter. Visiting hours are 2-6pm on Saturday & Sunday. If you'd like to adopt a cat or dog (including one of our special dogs), please apply online and one of our volunteers will contact you.
