Susan May a Long Term EHS Volunteer

Celebrating Susan’s Years of Dedication to EHS

EHS is deeply saddened by the recent passing of Susan May, a long-time former volunteer and foster, and beloved member of our community.

Susan joined EHS as a volunteer in 2010, and over the course of the next decade, held many positions, including animal care volunteer, office volunteer, cat surrender coordinator, cat adoption coordinator, and fundraiser. She played a key role in the revitalization of our cat program in 2015, and was elected to the EHS Board of Directors as the Director of Fundraising in 2016.

Thanks to her extraordinary efforts, Susan raised tens of thousands of dollars and in-kind donations during her time on the fundraising team.

She helped lead major campaigns and events, including Bowl-A-Thons, holiday fundraisers, Leashes by the Lake, participation at Taste of the Kingsway, and many others. Her commitment and enthusiasm helped secure private and corporate donations for the shelter.

When EHS moved to our current location in 2012, Susan donated French doors for our front cat rooms, so the cats could look out into the office area and volunteers could look in.

Susan was a true champion of animal rescue, and continued fostering for EHS even after she

stepped back from her volunteer roles. Her contributions to EHS helped to save the lives of

countless animals, and her warmth and kindness to both people and animals were apparent to all who met her. She will be deeply missed.
