Small but mighty—it's Natalie!
Natalie arrived from an overcrowded municipal shelter where she underwent surgery and post-op care due to a severe neck wound. Much of her experience with humans has involved medical handling, so we are working to teach her that humans can also help bring comfort, kindness, and love!
About Natalie
- At shelter
- Natalie is a skittish cat who has had minimal experience with humans. Due to her limited experience, she may react defensively by swatting, lunging, or hissing.
- Natalie may act tough at first, but she enjoys people who sit with her and will exchange slow blinks back and forth. Sometimes if she is comfortable enough, she will groom herself in front of volunteers.
- Natalie enjoys covered spaces that allow her to feel secure—whether that’s a soft cubby, cat tree, or inside her favorite shelf.
- Though not entirely a kitten any longer, Natalie does have a cute and playful side that she shows at night when there are minimal people around. We are looking forward to seeing her become more comfortable showing that side during the daytime!
- Natalie is currently enrolled in EHS’s socialization program, where dedicated volunteers are working to help her become more comfortable around people.
- Natalie enjoys food or treats presented to her on the backscratcher to help her get used to it. Once relaxed, she enjoys gentle pets around her head. She may initially bite the backscratcher and needs time to relax before continuing.
- Some skittish cats may remain reserved, while others may express their trust and affection in a variety of ways.
- Natalie is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on core vaccinations.
Natalie's Ideal Home
- A skittish cat will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children.
- Natalie can be adopted alone or with another cat! She enjoys her feline companions, and they help her feel more comfortable in her surroundings.
- Natalie may benefit from having access to a safe space, such as a small room or bathroom, where she can stay when first brought home to help ease the transition to her new surroundings.
- Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Natalie settle into her new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Natalie with a successful transition into her forever home.
