"The way to make people trustworthy is to trust them." — Ernest Hemingway
Time spent in a loving foster home environment has allowed Hemingway to become more trusting, confident, and comfortable. Now he and his brother, Ernest, are ready to join their long-awaited forever family and begin writing a new chapter!
About Hemingway
- In foster
- Hemingway is a calm, low-energy fellow who can usually be found lounging in comfy cat beds during the day.
- He enjoys a good play session with the ball-and-track toy, and he can often be seen sitting in front of the track waiting for the action to begin. Hemingway has even been found fast asleep with his head resting on the track!.
- Hemingway also enjoys a good romp with his brother and playing with his catnip toys.
- He has shown great strides with regards to trusting humans and now he absolutely loves being approached for pets in his cat bed, allowing full body pets and belly rubs. When he’s had enough he will gently swat, no harm intended. Reading his body language will keep all interactions positive.
- Hemingway has also begun to allow his foster mom to approach him for pets when he's out in the open. Building trust is definitely the key to success with this sweet boy!
- When sleepy, Hemingway relaxes into his affectionate side. Before a nap or settling in for the night, he enjoys being scratched on his neck and chin, and receiving pets on the top of his head and shoulder before drifting off.
- He has become rather curious about his foster mom’s food, jumping on the couch beside her to see if she’s willing to share. Oh, Hemingway, your food is in the kitchen!
- He’s developed a recent fascination with some small boxes stored on the bottom shelf of a bookcase. Hemingway seems eager to see what is inside, using his face to lift the lid to get a peek. What a character!
- A cute quirk: He recognizes his name, but only when it is whispered. Once you get his attention, he will follow you to the kitchen or the bathroom, his former safe room.
- Hemingway is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and has received core vaccinations.
Hemingway's Ideal Home
- Hemingway is part of a bonded pair and must be adopted with his partner, Ernest.
- Hemingway is easily spooked by a lot of commotion and when visitors come over. A calm, quiet atmosphere where he can lounge around with his brother and enjoy life to the fullest will suit him perfectly.
- He is currently sharing his space with resident cats and would be happy to continue enjoying feline companionship in his forever home.
- Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Hemingway and Ernest settle into their new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist them with a successful transition to their forever home.
