"The way to make people trustworthy is to trust them." - Ernest Hemingway.
Ernest and his brother, Hemingway, are enjoying life in a loving foster home, and can definitely relate to this quote! However, as much as they’ve delighted in making new friends at EHS, what they want most of all is to find their forever family. These lovely boys have been very patient while waiting for their ideal people to come along and find them.
About Ernest
- In foster
- Ernest’s foster mom describes him as quirky, curious, and smart.
- He is more outgoing than Hemingway and will approach visitors when they have treats.
- Ernest enjoys receiving affection on his terms, which has been occurring more often recently; it’s now common to find him rubbing against his foster mom, purring, and rolling around making biscuits. He even sticks his tongue out when he is really happy. How adorable is that?
- When Ernest is in a “pettable” mood, his foster mom can pick him up and cuddle him as he relaxes and enjoys the attention.
- He also loves to cuddle with and be groomed by Hemingway. They are the perfect duo!
- Ernest is a playful boy, enjoying both interactive play with his brother and solo play with feather toys, balls, and toy mice. He occasionally enjoys sprinting down the hallway to burn off energy.
- When Ernest wants to be alone, he naps in one of his numerous cat beds, or gazes out the window.
- He’s quite smart and responds to his name when called. He can also be vocal, especially during mealtimes or when he wants to be petted.
- Ernest is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on core vaccinations.
Ernest's Ideal Home
- Ernest is part of a bonded pair and must be adopted with his partner, Hemingway.
- He adores the resident cats in his foster home, so the more the merrier as far as he is concerned.
- Ernest and Hemingway's history with small children and dogs is unknown.
- Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Ernest and his brother settle into their new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist them with a successful transition to their forever home.
