A long-term foster had been found for Ben. Thank you to everyone who came forward or who shared his story.

Hi everyone,
If you've been following our website and social media, you may have heard of an EHS cat named Ben, whom you've never met.
Ben is a special boy. He's been in EHS foster homes for more than a year now, because he tested positive for both FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) and FeLV (feline leukemia virus). In many other shelters, this would have been a death sentence.
But at EHS, we believe every life deserves a chance. So we treated him for the upper respiratory infection he arrived with, got him his neuter and dental surgery to clean up his teeth, and found a foster home for him with no other pets.
Since then, Ben has flourished in our care, and he expressed his gratitude in love and affection towards each of his foster families. Through no fault of his own, Ben has moved foster homes three times over the past year, but always remained friendly, loving, and confident.
Apart from a mild upper respiratory infection in December, Ben has been in perfect health over the last 15 months since arriving at EHS. He has had full bloodwork and a urinalysis done recently, and his physical exam and annual vaccines given, and you would never know he is FIV/FeLV positive if not for the initial test results. He is not sick, nor he is on any medication at this time.
Ben is a charming, chatty boy who loves belly rubs and sleeps with his humans at night. He greets his humans at the door, and rubs his head against their legs. He's very smart and food driven, and follows his humans around for food and treats. He loves to cuddle on the couch and be pet constantly, and to watch the birds outside the window.
His current fosters can no longer keep him as they are moving out of the country next month.
Ben is available for adoption, and looking for a forever home. However, in the meantime, until his forever family comes along, Ben needs a long term foster home with no other cats, and a vehicle to take him to occasional vet appointments from time to time.
Please note that FIV and FeLV are not transmittable to humans or other species (only other cats).
If you have no other cats and are willing to open your home and heart to Ben until he is adopted, please email cat.foster@etobicokehumanesociety.com. All food, supplies, and vet care will be covered by EHS.
