Limited visitation for cats. See Details HERE
Having a large chunk of memory available for photos on your phone is certainly not a requirement to foster for Etobicoke Humane Society – but trust me, it comes highly recommended. My family and I have been fostering cats and kittens for EHS for over a year, and as I scroll through my photo stream, more often than not, a furry feline form pops up and with it, a recollection of the time we shared.
We were initially drawn to it because of a small kitten whose plight touched our hearts. “Olive”, had lost weight and needed frequent syringe feeding and medication. The fact that she already had found a forever family, and was not available to be adopted, sealed the deal, as we had agreed to not “foster fail”.
Olive was so sweet, a small black bundle which we wrapped in a towel as we encouraged her to eat. Vibrant golden eyes, particularly noticeable late at night as she purred, curled around my daughter’s head. The happy dance and video we all did when she first ate by herself from a plate! All of this brought so much joy to our family. We were thrilled when she was ready to head off to her forever home and of course, like each time since, saddened when it was time for her to leave… We were hooked.
Our fosters have ranged from single cats or kittens to rambunctious litters which have us constantly counting heads! And we are always amazed at which cats have just clicked with our family, particularly since it includes a senior cat and two dogs.
Fosters are needed for both long and short term – and EHS makes it easy. They provide all the necessities from dishes, food, litter box, etc. - you simply supply the love and of course, the space on your phone and in your heart and home.
