Thinking about adding a furry family member to your home? June is the perfect time, as it’s Adopt a Cat Month!
We’re happy to report that so far this year, we’ve found homes for more than 100 cats, and we have no plans on slowing down.

Included in that number is David, who had been with us for 1,620 days, most of which was spent in foster care. David first came to us after being found as a stray in the Hamilton area. When he arrived, he was very shy, and it took some time for him to become comfortable in his foster home. While staying with his fosters, he became quite ill and needed emergency vet visits, specialist appointments, and surgery to manage stones in his bladder and urethra. He required lots of care, and we were very grateful for his amazing fosters, who took on his health challenges and made sure he had everything he needed.
After going through this ordeal, his fosters decided they couldn’t part with him, and made his adoption final this past month!
David’s adoption is a special one that we’re celebrating, knowing he’s in his forever home. And we’re determined to see many more happy endings this year with even more adoptions to come.
Sometimes, our cats come to us feeling a little shy, or unsure of the world around them. They may have been through a difficult time, either spending time on the streets, or their family can no longer care for them and they’re now in a strange new environment.
To get them ready to show their best version of themselves, our cat behavioural team will spend time working with them. They’ll look for reactiveness, shyness, and other behaviours that would make them hard to adopt. The team will observe what triggers these behaviours, and will work with the cat to make them more comfortable around people. This can sometimes take months, or even years, but we never give up and have had many success stories over the years.
We want to recognize the cat behavioural team for their dedication to our special and shy cats during this special month. Thank you for everything you do!
