As a no-kill shelter, we believe every animal deserves a second chance at a forever home, and we rely on donations to help us provide care for our animals.
This includes Elm, who was abandoned at our shelter on a Sunday afternoon with various injuries. The only info we had was that he may have fallen out of a tree.
Meet Elm
He was bleeding from his mouth and it was obvious he had other injuries. After rushing him to the vet, they found he had an open fracture on his leg, soft tissue injury under his chin, and he'd bitten off part of his tongue. He also had a mild pneumothorax on his left side (which is air that accumulates outside the lung) and a few bruised ribs.
After getting cleaned and stitched up, he had x-rays and was given pain medications. The vet recommended his fractured leg be amputated, as trying to correct the break would be a longer and more complicated surgery.
Elm has now had his surgery, and is doing very well and recovering in a loving foster home. His vet bills were very expensive, so please consider making a donation on Giving Tuesday, as you’ll be helping animals like Elm to get a second chance at happiness.
Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving and volunteering that comes after Black Friday. It’s a way for charities to come together to promote giving in the same way retailers take part in Black Friday sales.
