Limited visitation for cats. See Details HERE
On a cold and wet day back in March, one of our volunteers came across a post in a local Lost and Found Facebook group about an abandoned cat. The person who posted believed the cat was abandoned because it only appeared after a car was seen driving away from the scene. Thankfully the individual who spotted the cat provided excellent directions to its location.
Knowing this cat would be vulnerable to predators, as well as the elements, our volunteer rounded up some help and went to the location, determined to find the cat.
After a short search, the cat was found, wet and frozen with fear. When our volunteer rescuer got close (after crawling through mud and broken branches), the cat, who’s now been named Sunset because he was found at dusk, started meowing. It was as if he knew he was being saved.
When he came into our care, we noticed Sunset had difficulty breathing. He appears to be Persian and is brachycephalic (which means his face is fairly flat), which can cause breathing problems; this was likely made worse due to his exposure to the weather. He also had conjunctivitis in both eyes.
We made sure to get him the vet care he needed, and in the meantime, a shelter volunteer fell in love with his sweet personality and was able to foster him while he got healthy. After having him in their home, they decided they couldn’t let him go and we’re happy to say his adoption was finalized in the middle of May.
Congratulations to Sunset for finding a forever family, and a huge thank you to our volunteers for being so dedicated to saving animals!
