Popcorn kitten anyone? Meet Penelope!

Penelope, along with her sisters, Helen and Calypso, came to us from an overcrowded municipal shelter. They’ve stuck together through all of their challenges and are now ready to find their forever homes. She is named after Queen Penelope of Ithaca (for you Odyssey movie fans), who is a character well known for being fiercely loyal. Kitten Penelope, however, will likely need to gain some more trust in humans first before feeling loyal to them, but she is working on that!

About Penelope

  • In foster
  • Kittens, like Penelope, have lots of energy!
  • Penelope has been described as a “popcorn kitten” as she jumps and bounces around just like a kernel of popping corn!
  • Her foster also reports that those skills also contribute to Penelope being an expert “bookshelf climber,” so keep any climbing structures in your home secure, and place expensive or well-loved items away from launching and landing spots—to keep Penelope (and your treasured items) safe!
  • Penelope is also very good at hide and seek! You may want to give yourself the advantage in this game by limiting her access to the really hard to find spots.
  • With the help of a foster family, Penelope is on a journey to adapt to a new environment and become more comfortable around people.
  • Penelope will be spayed, and is microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, and up to date on core vaccinations.

Penelope’s Ideal Home

  • It is important that Penelope either go to a home where there is already a feline-friendly cat in residence, or be adopted with one of her siblings or another compatible EHS cat.
  • Kittens require ample and mindful stimulation, through play, from their family.
  • A skittish cat will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children.
  • Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Penelope settle into her new environment. If needed, EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Penelope with a successful transition to her forever home.

Need a couch companion for movie night that won’t steal your popcorn? If so, why not apply to adopt Penelope today!
