Wanted: Senior Dog Manager

Would you like to volunteer your organizational and leadership skills to help us find forever homes for homeless dogs? The Etobicoke Humane Society (EHS) is an independent, all-volunteer, organization with a mission to protect, care for and advance the welfare of animals. We have a fantastic team of volunteers and we continue to grow. 2017 was another record setting year as we helped even more dogs and cats find loving homes and we are planning for significant growth in 2018.  Last year, EHS found forever homes for almost 100 dogs!

To maintain our growth and continue helping animals in need, we are looking for a volunteer who could provide leadership to our Dog Program. Currently we have three experienced managers sharing this accountability and we are looking to provide them with support while streamlining roles and responsibilities. This volunteer position is responsible for all aspects of the operation of the dog shelter and for providing strategic leadership to all EHS Dog activities. The primary focus of the Dog Senior Manager should be on the long-term development and sustainability of the dog operations, with day to day operations managed by those reporting into the Dog Senior Manager.

As this is a new role, the time commitment is difficult to estimate, but it is no less than 4-6 hours per week and while a lot of the support can be done remotely, some regular time at the shelter will be beneficial to you and the dog team. The hours are totally flexible. Key skills and experience for the role are organizational skills, planning, and working with people (and dogs!) It would also be great if you have some experience in animal care. If you are eager to contribute to our cause then that is most important skill needed.

The rewards of this role are that you get to work with a great group of people while providing a huge benefit to the animals in our care. You will be making a difference to the animals and to the community.  The Etobicoke Humane Society is well positioned to continue to grow and improve and you would be a big part of that change.
