We welcome visitors to the Etobicoke Humane Society. Please review our animal visiting policies.
Dogs who come into the shelter often experience stress as they adjust to their new environment. At EHS we try to alleviate this anxiety and create a comfortable and peaceful environment for the dogs. As much as we would like to welcome everyone, only visitors who are interested in potentially adopting a dog are permitted to visit them. There are times that we may also have to limit the number of visits a dog may have in a day to reduce their stress.
Potential adopters are asked to first review the available dogs online here. Once you have read the description and criteria for each dog, you can either email the contact person listed under the description of each dog to make an appointment to meet with the dog, or you can come to the shelter during visiting hours 10:30-11:30 in the morning and 1:30-4:30 in the afternoon. It is recommended that you call (416) 241-6100 on the day you wish to visit to check that the dog will be available for viewing. For more information about adopting please review our Adoption Process.
Cats at the shelter can be seen between 10:30-11:30 in the morning and 1:00-4:00 in the afternoon Monday to Friday. On the weekends, you may visit the cats throughout the day between 10:30am-4:00pm. Please check online for the cats available for adoption and read the description of each cat here. If the cat is in foster care and not at the shelter, it will be stated in the description. You may contact cats@etobicokehumanesociety to arrange a visit with the cats in foster.
